Il a complété son diplôme de médecine à l’Université de Montréal avec brio, et s’est ensuite spécialisé en ophtalmologie, où il a complété le programme de résidence de cinq ans à l’Université de Sherbrooke. Il a par la suite été chef résident, où on lui a alors assigné la responsabilité de l’enseignement de l’ophtalmologie à ses collègues plus junior. Le Dr Hamid a également effectué un stage post-doctoral sur le glaucome et la chirurgie du segment antérieur à l’Université de Montréal, et s’est spécialisé dans la chirurgie réfractive. Il a d’ailleurs acquis son expérience en travaillant avec l’un des chirurgiens de réfraction les plus reconnus au Canada, le Dr Michel Podtetenev, et a joint la Clinique Invisia et Precivision 2015. Le Dr Hamid a effectué plus de 20000 chirurgies intraoculaires et plus de 1000 interventions au laser. Il possède des connaissances approfondies en chirurgie de la cataracte réfractive et se spécialise dans les cas compliqués. Il est le 2e médecin ophtalmologiste à pratiquer le ReLEx SMILE au Québec et 3e au Canada. Le Dr Hamid est un membre actif de la communauté de l’ophtalmologie. Il a d’ailleurs eu l’occasion de partager son savoir lors de certaines des plus grandes conférences de l’industrie telles la American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, la American Glaucoma Society et la Canadian Glaucoma Society. Il a publié plusieurs articles scientifiques revus par des pairs, a reçu plusieurs bourses de recherche pour son travail et continue aujourd’hui de mener des études cliniques sur le sujet. Il est le chef de service d’ophtalmologie de l’hôpital Charles-Lemoyne, centre universitaire affilié à l’Université de Sherbrooke. Il opère aussi au centre de chirurgie Dix30 de clearpoint health à Brossard sur la rive-sud de Montréal. Il a effectué ses études et sa spécialisation en ophtalmologie à l’Université de Montrèal au sein des hopitaux du CHUM, Maisonneuve-Rosemont et Sainte Justine. Il a obtenu son doctorat en médecine de l’Université Laval et il est aussi titulaire d’une maitrise de l’Université McGill. À part sa passion pour l’ophtalmologie, Dr. Hakim est impliqué dans plusieurs organismes communautaires et de bénévolat à la Montérégie et à Montréal.
